Original pieces, models and reproductions are distributed throughout the different rooms of the City Museum show the main signs of identity of its great cultural heritage, both of the city and of its municipal district.
The Museum of the City of Shiraz is located in the former building of the Shiraz municipality. The building dates back to the 19th century. It has been founded in 1907 AD (1286 AH).

The museum shows how the city has evolved throughout its history.
This museum takes a journey through the history, tangible and intangible heritage, art, crafts and ethnography of Shiraz in its most varied manifestations. All of this aim to show visitors the amazing historical development of the city.
The museum’s route takes visitors into the aspects that have marked the evolution of this important urban center through aspects such as religion, the economy, urban planning, politics and art.
This museum includes sections such as the plain and the narrative of the city, the mansion, the observatory, the gallery room, the Mint, the worship and religion, the sounds and melodies, and the pilgrimage, which familiarize visitors with the lifestyle, history, and urban developments in different ages.
